First bursaries The Jon Hayward Memorial Trust has recently granted bursaries to 10 Shropshire children (aged between 9 and 11) for the next academic year to help fund the cost of music lessons which they would have been unable to participate in without this financial assistance. The trustees agreed upon the successful applicants after receiving applications from all 4 corners of the county and are delighted by the variety of instruments that the applicants are learning to play. In total the bursaries will help fund lessons for 8 different musical instruments, and for varying standards of performance.

This year the emphasis of the trustees and friends changed from fund raising to concentrating on publicising the charity in all primary schools in Shropshire and then on considering referrals at the beginning of July. Some fund raising has still taken place - there was a team in the Bridgnorth Walk (The money this year was divided between the Trust and the Prostate Cancer Charity) and a folk evening has been held at Enville. |
