I expect you have worked out that I'm keen on Folk Music..  I rekindled my love of the music in 1999 when I started listening to Sunday Folk on Radio Shropshire.

Apart from going to see Ralph McTell in concert again from the late 1980s I was really out of touch with the folk scene.  I never had the money to collect CD's when kids were small.  Nor was I 'in' to dragging them to festivals in muddy fields. Now I can enjoy Folk at my level, on my terms.

The site reflects my interests. Irish Music, Stivell, Ralph McTell, Dubliners. I still go some Thursday evenings to The Boat Inn, Jackfield.  I take my guitar, concertina and voice - I am really enjoying being part of the sessions and have learned a vast amount, lots of new tunes and songs and am thrilled to be playing within a supportive group of people.

Since 2001 I have been a frequent visitor to Ireland. I have enjoyed several trips to Dublin. I've also been to the All Ireland Fleadh 2001 & 02  in Listowel, followed by 2003 & 04 in Clonmel and 2005 in Letterkenny, Donegal.  Lack of funds have stopped me going since then.

I do enjoy going to Folk Festivals, but stick to a couple a year.  I didn't  manage to get to The Festival at the Edge last year but am hoping to get there this year.

Sabrinaflu Website

In 1997 I went on a web design course at the University of Wolverhampton spread over three Saturdays.  At the end of it I got a certificate for a module.  Then in 1999 I actually started working for the University on an IT project called Rural Broadnet, based in Church Stretton, Shropshire.  The post was part admin assistant and part tutor.  I taught the web design course I had taken to individuals and people running small businesses.

I needed an example of my own to show students so I chose to design a folk website.... Sabrinaflu.  On old maps the River Severn is called Sabrina flumen - flu for short.

The design depicting Shrewsbury was adapted from the front of my old school mag.... artist unknown.. I cant draw for toffee !
